Are You a Teacher? Book a Bassett Boys’ Schoolroom Tour for Class!

The Bassett Boys’ Schoolroom is a state heritage-listed single-gabled schoolroom built of local freestone with a slate floor from the local quarries. Located at 17 St. Lukes Street, Willunga, the schoolroom is the home of the Basset Boys School Program, which offers a unique learning experience for primary students from reception to year 3 with hands-on interactive activities to support teaching and learning in the Australian Curriculum area of history, civics, and citizenship.

This school program provides students with a rich experience of various facets of life over 150 years. Students are introduced to the history of the buildings and the local area and can experience lifestyles in the late 1800s. Hands-on activities are included throughout the program. At the Bassett Boys’ Schoolroom, education is fun!

“Thank you so much for all that you and the volunteers did for us today, we really enjoyed our visit! The students were really engaged in all the activities and tours, and I have already had feedback from parents that they had a great time.

It was wonderful the way it all fitted in so well with the learning we have been doing and it makes it a bit more ‘real’ for our students. Thank you so much to all of you for giving of your time for this great experience!”
